Several users have seen their MP3 files has been shortened by the beta release.
This is the small amount of data which lies at the beginning of the file, called the header, which contains metadata such as song name, artist, etc.
This should obviously not exceed 16 kilobytes, according Windows 7 Beta. Corruption of data is so if you edit the metadata in these files in Windows Media Player or Explorer.
The consequence is that you lose the first few seconds of the song, and the hurt is irreversible, unfortunately.
Microsoft, but, are aware of the problem that has not appeared in previous versions of Windows 7, so I reckon they send out an urgent update?
