Wood on fire!
This ethanol burning indoor fire”bar” doesn’t even has to strain attention, it just instantly becomes the centerpiece of its environment. The first glance doesn’t present more than a imposing 200cm wide luxury wood board. But with just a touch, a lifting lid unleashes a decent fiery which visual conciseness gets enhanced by the mirror finished stainless steel tray. They control and house the steadily blazing flames.
A car made of wood
We’re not sure what sort of beneficial impact one would get from making a supercar out of wood composites, but if there’s one, student Joe Harmon, the designer of the Splinter supercar, will find out. The Splinter will be a 600-hp, 2,500-pound car with wood used for the chassis, body, and parts of the suspension and wheels.
Plywood Headphone by David Burel
These distinctive headphones are as elegant as they are simplistic. Dissatisfied with wood used as a marketing device for environmentalists, David Burel made sure his phones made wood an integral feature of the design. The “wood arch” is made from Finnish birch plywood and uses the same molding technique used by furniture and skateboard designers. The resulting arch has a width of 1.2mm, so it’s lightweight and flexible, while providing the precise, resonant sound that only wood can produce.
